Angela (Angie) Massie is the Vice President of Live Storytelling at The Weather Channel television network based in Atlanta, Georgia, serving 81 million American households a day. She’s a graduate of the Ohio University (OU) Honors Tutorial College with a degree in Telecommunications.
While at OU, Angie completed internships at NBC’s “Today” in New York, as well as local affiliates WOWK and WSAZ in nearby Huntington, West Virginia. Immediately after graduating, Angie started her producing career at WSAZ, close to her hometown of Ironton, Ohio. Her next stop was CNN Worldwide Headquarters in Atlanta. Angie began her tenure there as an associate producer, then rose through the ranks to become a line producer and executive producer. She had the opportunity to lead live programming on shows including “CNN Newsroom”, “Live From…” and “Rick’s List”. She also served as Executive Producer at HLN’s “Evening Express”. In addition, she produced live coverage for several CNN special events: the last launch of a space shuttle, the Royal Wedding of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, and the funeral of Pope John Paul II.
Angie joined The Weather Channel television network in 2014, and served as Executive Producer and Senior Executive Producer before being promoted to Vice President. In her current role she is responsible for presentation of content and field coverage during the network’s live programming hours. In August 2019, Angie assumed the interim role of Head of Marketing and oversees all marketing efforts for the network including social media and digital marketing, print and television advertising and promotion, branding, advertising partner integration, advertising sales marketing, and distributor marketing.
Angie is a recipient of the Dupont Award and the Peabody, and has been nominated for a national Emmy in 2018 for coverage of Hurricane Harvey on The Weather Channel television network.
