Global Mentoring Experience

WICT Southeast is excited to officially kick off the 2021 Global Mentoring Experience on May 13th from 12 – 1:30 pm EST with our partner, WICT Latin America. This program offers members of WICT Southeast the opportunity to be a mentor or mentee and attend virtual topic-specific workshops led by industry executives and 1:1 virtual mentoring/mentee sessions internationally with members of the Southeast, Latin American and other WICT chapters.

2021 theme: Let’s Be Honest: where we are with our careers, where we want to be; what obstacles do we face in today’s world and changing business, and how do we stay relevant?

The mentees who participate in this program will have an opportunity to:

In honor of our third annual event, our incredible LATAM partners will lead the first session featuring Eva Hughes as keynote speaker. Eva is a fashion business expert with extensive knowledge of consumer demands and trends in the luxury and lifestyle segments. As the founder of Adira Consulting, she is a trusted advisor for brands seeking to attract consumers in established and emerging markets that are in constant flux. Her profile seems to have little in common with our normal speakers at first glance. However, as CEO of Condé Nast Mexico and Latin America and Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Mexico and Latin America, Eva had to be a different woman than she is today. In the midst of the luxury goods market, she built a character, she had to be strong in a business led by men and she learned that if she didn’t have any mentor in her life that would guide her in her professional life; she had to become one of them for a lot of people in the industry. Eva is known as “Latin-American Devils wear Prada”, and she has an extensive public speaking record that inspires diverse audiences on empowerment, career goals, and leadership skills. She connects with others, inspires people and the public with her empowering message; that everything is possible if you invest the necessary time, your passion, dedication, and determination. She is proud to have inspired designers, executives, and audiences. Motivating people to take action and pursue their dreams is the driving force behind who she is.

In July, WICT Southeast will introduce Dr. Jeff Thompson from PEAK Learning as our keynote speaker. We’ll look at how people and organizations are dealing with unprecedented uncertainty, change and adversity. And we’ll explore how keeping up with growing demands could be taking a toll on performance, morale and contribution. AQ (Adversity Quotient) is about what it takes to get things done in highly demanding times. AQ is a scientifically-grounded theory that describes, measures, and strengthens how people respond to the full range of challenges that we face every day.

This energizing and interactive session will explore the AQ principles to bolster your ability to be more resilient, manage change, handle stress, and problem-solve in a more effective and healthy way. These skills will help you navigate adversity more effectively to achieve greater satisfaction and success in your work and life. As a result, our teams and organization can thrive as well.
