Sarah Cheatham serves as Director of Marketing Strategies at Discovery, Inc. where she provides strategic leadership for promotion planning and placement for HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and GAC on various platforms including on-air and off-channel. Cheatham leads the team responsible for maximizing inventory via distribution partners to drive brand awareness and ratings and develops strategies for high-profile marketing initiatives.
Cheatham joined the company – then Scripps Networks Interactive – in 2005 in the TV Commercial Operations department, working her way up to supervisor for the Travel Channel brand, which she helped integrate following its acquisition in 2009. In 2012, she was recruited to the Media Strategies team, managing on air-promotions for HGTV, and soon adding its popular sister brands to her expanding portfolio. Cheatham began her career in television as a network operations technician and ad sales intern at WBXX-TV, Knoxville while in college. After graduation she was promoted to local account executive where she was awarded WB20’s Sales Person of the Year in 2004.
Cheatham is particularly passionate about empowering women in the workplace, and has been a WICT member since 2009. In 2015, she served as the Director of Membership for WICT’s award-winning Southeast chapter, followed by Sr. Director of Membership in 2017 and 2018. She is a proud graduate of the WICT Rising Leaders program. Currently the co-lead of the Discovery Women’s Network employee resource group, Cheatham has pioneered its success during its inaugural year in Knoxville, including launching Discovery’s Intern Mentoring program in 2019.
Sarah lives in Knoxville with her husband and two little boys who love water balloon fights and keeping her busy! In her (limited) spare time, she loves to bake new recipes, take spin class, volunteer and plan parties for her family and friends.
